As one of reining’s most dedicated leaders, NRHA Two Million Dollar Rider Tom McCutcheon has made a significant name for himself and his family. Horse training has always been in Tom’s DNA, with his father, Bob McCutcheon, being an established trainer. Additionally, all of Tom’s brothers are highly involved in the western performance horse industry. Throughout his career, Tom has earned many impressive titles, including but certainly not limited to NRBC Open Champion, NRHA Open Derby Reserve Champion, World Equestrian Games Individual Gold and Silver Medalist, NCRHA Open Futurity Champion, FEI World Reining Finals Champion, and USEF Equestrian of the Year.

Growing up, Tom always knew horse training would be his path. He started riding shortly after he could walk and has spent every moment he could in the saddle since then. His many years of dedication have led Tom to own and operate an unparalleled facility in Aubrey, Texas. This impressive location is home to a world-class training center, rehab center, stallion station, and retirement capabilities. In addition to his hands-on work, Tom has been actively involved with professional committees for the NRBC, USEF, and NRHA, holding various chair positions both in the past and currently.

From the start, Mandy McCutcheon was destined to be successful in the vast world of show horses. Her mother, Colleen McQuay, kept a barn full of world-class hunters and jumpers, which is where Mandy’s career and success began. Earning multiple championships in some of the most elite hunter-jumper shows was just the beginning of her show career. Mandy’s father, Tim McQuay, is one of NRHA’s most highly respected members, as a Multi-Million Dollar Rider, Owner, and Breeder. Tim and Colleen owned two record-setting sires: Gunner and Hollywood Dun It.After transitioning to the world of reining, Mandy was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011 and became the only 3 Million Dollar Non-Pro Rider in 2021. Apart from her widely successful career in the equine world, Mandy is also the mother of Cade and Carlee McCutcheon. Much of her time is devoted to traveling to watch and cheer for her children at horse shows all over the world.

Following in the successful footsteps of generations before him, Cade McCutcheon continues to blaze trails for the younger generations of reiners. As the youngest rider to accomplish the coveted 2 Million Dollar Rider mark, Cade has set the bar high for his career.

Similar to Tom, reining was quick to become Cade’s obsession. He began showing in 2007 as a youth competitor and has been setting records ever since. For Cade, horse training is more than a job, “It’s a true passion,” he says, “I couldn’t shake it if I wanted to.” Since his transition into the open arena, Cade has been persistent in being the best. During his first Open Show Season in 2019, Cade stopped for nothing short of “record-setting”. Aboard Custom Made Gun, Cade took victory at the 2019 The Run For A Million, marking a 229.5 and clinching the Co-Champion title in the show’s premiere year. Shortly following that, Cade topped off the end of his first year in the open with an Open Futurity Championship in the levels 2, 3, and 4, this time with 2016 stallion, Super Marioo, becoming NRHA’s youngest Million Dollar Rider.

Since then, Cade remains one of NRHA’s leading money earners. Cade was most recently crowned champion at the 2024 NRHA Derby. With so much more ahead of him, we know that Cade will carry on the family legacy for years to come.

With the last name McCutcheon, success comes naturally. This remains true for the youngest of the family, Carlee McCutcheon. Carlee finished out her last junior year in 2023 strong with both the USEF Dover Medal Finals and ASPCHA Maclay Win along with earning the Kip Rosenthal high Scoring Equitation Rider for all four finals. She was the leading junior jumper rider at WEF and The Devon Horse Show. Carlee has delved into the professional world this year and has been leaving her mark on the arena, winning the 2* Qualifying Class in Chantilly on Coco Mercedes, placing 3rd at WEF in a U25 Grand Prix as well as 2nd in the U25 WEF Series Final Grand Prix. Carlee’s unmatched work ethic and determination helped her to become a prodigy in both jumping and reining. Carlee was the youngest rider to make the NRHA Level 4 Non-Pro Futurity Finals and showed off her versatility as a rider when she claimed the Reserve Champion Non-Pro Run For A Million title, the same year that Mandy won the Non-Pro Run For A Million.
